What Was the End Result?
Between 50 and 70 million people lost their lives. There was food shortages and lots of destruction which led to shortage of housing. Tens of million of people were homeless after the war. The United States territory had not suffered much damage and their economy had grown during the war. Returning GIs were given money so they could go to college or buy a house.
